As I was reading about youtube in the text while at home this weekend for Easter, my younger brother was watching a tv show on comedy central. The show is calld Tosh.0 and features "viral clips, sketches, and "Web Redemptions" which give subjects of infamous viral videos a second chance to redeem themselves from the embarrassment with which they've become synonymous"  I was immediately intrigued by the show and how many of the videos it highlighted I had already seen! The more I thought about it, the more I realized that there are many shows how that talk about the internet or internet videos.

Even the news is taking notice. I was attracted to a link on my homepage the other day which featured a link from The Today Show. It was a story that aired sometime late last week about a "new internet video” featuring a popular song (Single Ladies, by Beyonce) and a family sing-a-long in the car. I was very entertained by the video and then went looking for it on youtube. I was surprised to find that the video had only been posted for 6 days and already had well over 1.5 million views! The feature on the Today show had to of aired at least 2 days ago by now! Even though I have been a big fan and avid viewer of youtube for years now, reading this week’s assignment made me much more aware of how “viral” youtube videos can be.
